The Scandinavian Defense (or Scandinavian Game) is a semi-open opening that appears on the board after the moves 1.e4 d5. The opening has been known since the late 15th century, having been used and first attested in the game Mars versus Venus, described in the medieval poem Scachs d’amor by a group of poets from Valencia. This chess match is considered the oldest one played according to modern rules, dating back to 1475.

The author of 2 TT is the best expert in the world 2.c3 system, which he experienced in tournament practice more than 600 times over 40 years. All theoretically important games selected for the book are commented in detail, and the author explains not only specific opening options, but also typical tricks of the game in the middlegame and even in the endgame. The Sicilian Defense variant 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Nc6 6.Bc4 is named after the Russian master Sozin, who introduced him to the tournament practice in 1929. But the main contribution to the study of this option made the legendary Robert Fisher. He not only included it in his debut repertoire, but also made him the main weapon against the version of Najdorf 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6, most popular in the Sicilian defense. And so option 5 ... a6 6.Bc4 should rightfully bear the name of Fisher. This is the reason for the title of the book “Fisher vs. Najdorf”. Variant survived a real boom after a very serious run-in in the match for the title of world champion in 1993, Kasparov - Short, where Harry Kasparov himself had to come forward as an opponent of the ideas of Fisher. And only sports happiness helped the world champion save a number of difficult positions. After that, “Fisher's Option 6.Bc4” appeared in the repertoire of not only Kasparov, but Topalov, Ivanchuk and other famous chess players. The book is based on the parties of Fisher and Kasparov, which determine the development of the variant, and is supported by the theory presented in an accessible form.

The progress of 2.f4 is not very popular now, and therefore - there is a wide scope for the debut creativity. Meanwhile, this plan creates serious problems for Black; They must act fairly energetically and accurately in order not to fall into the worst position. The author relies mainly on his parties, because he willingly played this system for both colors. A number of important fights for the first time are published for the first time: at one time Yevgeny Sveshnikov did not allow them to get into public computer bases. Most of the detailed commentaries are given in their entirety to show the inextricable link between the opening and the middlegame and even the endgame.

A new book by the international grandmaster, the well-known analyst and trainer Alexei Bezgodov, is devoted to the acute system 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.f3 !? In most caro-cannian systems, Black does not have problems with the development of the white-field elephant, but here they find themselves in an unusual situation - the elephant c8 is difficult to enter into the game.
